A Measured Perspective

Canada uses a mix of imperial and metric system measurements, I realised. So for the fun of it, I decided to dig up a conversion chart. Found a handy-sized one somewhere in an old diary. I don't know about you, but I've never bothered to remember the conversions from Celsius to Farenheit, or kilogrammes to pounds - so this lil guide will be useful.

I learnt that there is "soft metric" and "hard metric". An example of "soft metric" is a 454g block of butter (i.e. 1 pound), whereas an example of "hard metric" is a 500g bag of flour (round, even numbers).

In Ontario specifically, secondary school math curriculum now includes the teaching of imperial units together with metric units. Read more about metrication in Canada.
