I took a slightly longer walk over lunch today, to a place called The Scone Witch. I'd read about it in
CheapEats Ottawa, and a friend had recently mentioned it to me too. A quirky little house surrounded by tall and severe glass offices - it looked a little out of place. But it was warm and toasty inside, with an open kitchen where diners could see and smell the different scones being prepared.

I ordered a Mealwich of feta scone with Mediterranean vegetables, caramelised onions and goat cheese. It came with a side of freshly tossed salad in orange balsamic vinegar dressing. It was really good! The scone essentially served as the "bread" for the "sandwich", and was the right balance of moist and crisp. It was very buttery, yet light. Yums :-) I have never tried baking scones - I guess I will now!
Scone Witch is a great place to hang out with a cup of tea and a good book. I'm eyeing their weekend brunch as well, which looked like a steal at $10.50. I'll be back!! ;-)
