Towards Remembrance

We had a very special service in church today. It was a Remembrance Day service - the National Capital Concert Band was in attendance, as well as a Festival Choir. The Band, pipe organ and choir led us in worship throughout the service. Before the service, the Band also played a 30min prelude of World War I and II songs, accompanying a running slideshow of pictures of personal photos from people who'd loved ones involved in the wars.

After service, I took Terry and David (possibly the last time before I go back) for lunch at Yangtze. They'd mentioned to me that they enjoyed Chinese food, but from their description, I thought they would be thrilled with a taste of more authentic stuff. So we had a dim sum pig out, and it was fun introducing them to the different items. They were very intrigued by how the food went round the restaurant on trolleys and steamers, and that they could see their food before choosing whether to have it. I was happy seeing them happy :-)

So here we are, at the start of Week -3 to going back south. Shipping's on my mind again - I think through this attachment, I've become very good friends with boxes of all shapes and sizes, bubble wrap, duct tape and the Post Office! But apart from that, it's a lot of thank you cards, small gifts, farewell dinners... just enough closure till the next time I'm back in the area I suppose. Which shouldn't be too far away? ;-)
