Thank God the Armchair ran smoothly, despite the hiccups, delays and uncertainties. I'm glad people enjoyed themselves, and left with a desire to experience Singapore. With respect to making people curious and that little bit more appreciative of Singapore, I think I succeeded. I should have managed my time better and have time for questions... or asked for a longer session! Haha. Well, if I ever have to do a Singapore presentation again, I'll know better :-) I never thought I'd say this, but "Uniquely Singapore" is quite true I've come to realise. When I was preparing the presentation, I pondered about what makes us us, and how I could explain that to my audience. I just couldn't for some bits - it's something they will have to experience for themselves.
I pushed myself out of my comfort zone for this presentation as
I got up the next morning rather tired, but pulled myself together and headed to church. I should have gone earlier than 10.30am - by the time I got there, many of the home baked goods and hand knitted/woven stuff were gone!!! Still, I managed to pick up a few bargains. Caught up with Manny and Genny, and we went down to the Fellowship Hall to wait on tables for the Yuletide Fair lunch crowd.
I learnt that I lack the right competencies to wait on tables. I was filled with great anxiety trying to remember the orders (we didn't have paper to take down orders). Found it hard to keep an eye on 5 tables all at the same time - after a while, I forgot who had dessert already and who didn't. But I could reset the tables quite well ;-) Haha, it was all good fun, running to and fro the church kitchen (it's big and airy - I half wished I was in the kitchen instead) to the tables with food, drink and dishes. Wore this really obiang apron, but since everyone else did too, it didn't feel too bad ;-)
So today, I'm only operating at half speed. It's been quite a week - and with the much colder weather, I'm all ready to hibernate... Hmm, maybe I should go get a new set of PJs...
