A Hundred Miles

North American churches are amazing where church suppers and bazaars are concerned. Was just thinking back on the number of church events I've been to since I came to Ottawa, and realised there's been something going on every other weekend on average! Next Saturday is DCUC's Yuletide Fair, and I'm up for waiting on tables :-)

Hundred-mile dinners are popular here too. This refers to dinners that are prepared with ingredients that come from within 100 miles of the dinner venue. This is apparently a bid to support local farmers and eat seasonally. Haven't been to a hundred-mile dinner yet, but at least on a daily basis, my own meals do come from within 100 miles, since I don't travel that far walking around :-p And I suppose everyone in Singapore does too, since we are not even 100 miles wide or long!! Haha, but for us so many things are imported so it doesn't really count I guess...
